Saudi Arabia’s bold vision to lead the global AI revolution takes a major leap forward through a groundbreaking partnership between Humain and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The two entities will invest over $5 billion to build the Kingdom’s first-of-its-kind AI Zone, setting the stage for a future where AI innovation is deeply human, secure, and transformative.
The Birth of Saudi Arabia’s AI Zone
This AI Zone, to be built with AWS’s cutting-edge infrastructure, will house advanced AI servers, UltraCluster networks for accelerated training, and full support for services like Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, and Amazon Q. These tools will allow organizations across the Gulf to build powerful, responsible generative AI applications in Arabic and beyond.
AWS’s existing $5.3 billion investment in a new infrastructure region expected to launch in 2026 will be complemented by this additional AI Zone. This collaboration cements Saudi Arabia’s strategic intent to become a global AI powerhouse.
Humain’s Mission: Human-Centered AI, Powered by the Cloud
Humain brings its cultural insight and ethical design philosophy to the table, crafting AI systems tailored to local traditions and global ambitions. In partnership with AWS, Humain will lead development of an AI agent marketplace, streamline LLM deployment, and prioritize Arabic language innovation through models like ALLaM.
Empowering Key Sectors with AI
From healthcare to education, the AI Zone will enable real-world transformation:
Personalized learning systems for students
Early diagnostics in healthcare
Smart governance and public service automation
AWS and Humain will jointly launch the Generative AI Innovation Center, supporting
governments, enterprises, and startups in deploying intelligent systems that truly serve society.
Fueling the Startup Ecosystem
With Saudi startups securing a record $750M in VC funding in 2024, the Kingdom is poised for AI-driven entrepreneurship. AWS and Humain will fuel this with programs like AWS Activate, providing access to scalable tools, cloud credits, and mentorship that turn ideas into global ventures.
A Vision for Talent and Inclusion
As part of this initiative, AWS will train 100,000 Saudi citizens in generative AI and cloud computing through the Amazon Academy, the largest program of its kind in the Middle East. Certifications like AWS AI Practitioner and Machine Learning Engineer will be available at no cost.
A special focus is also placed on inclusion. The Women’s Skills Initiative aims to upskill 10,000 Saudi women through structured training programs in collaboration with Skillsoft.
Conclusion: A New Chapter for AI in the Arab World
Saudi Arabia is not just adopting AI it’s defining its future. Through the Humain–AWS partnership, the Kingdom is creating a foundation that merges technology with cultural depth, economic opportunity, and ethical foresight. With $130 billion in AI-driven economic growth forecasted by 2030, this is only the beginning.
